WWCLS Friends of the library

The Waynesboro-Wayne County Library is a valuable part of the community in our area. The Friends of the Waynesboro-Wayne County Library play an integral role in helping the library remain an amazing place to visit. The Friends of the Waynesboro Wayne County Library support the library’s work as the information center in our community by stimulating public interest in the library and its services. They play an active role in:

  • Fundraising for the library
  • Purchasing additional material for use within the library
  • Sponsoring additional activities not in the library budget
  • Developing volunteer programs

One of the Friends’ most successful volunteer endeavors is the Whistle Stop Friends of the library bookstore. The Friend’s bookstore offers a wide variety of used magazines, hardback and paperback books, as well as ceramics, purses, jewelry, inspirational gifts, and other items made by Wayne County artisans.

The store also provides office supplies such as pens, pencils, liquid paper, envelopes, paperclips, and CDs for sale, as well as snacks, coffee, cappuccino, and a Coke vending machine. The bookstore is operated by the Friends of the Library and is open 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. The Store currently accepts cash, American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa.

The Whistle Stop Friends bookstore is just one of the many wonderful provisions the Friends of the Library offers in support of the Waynesboro Wayne County Library. In the past year, the Friends of the Library have also:

  • Published a Bicetenntial cookbook for Wayne County
  • Donated $500.00 to the summer reading program
  • Held an outdoor spring book-sale
  • Recently donated $2,325.00 to offset recent budget cuts
