Computer Lab Policy

  1. All users must check out the computer with their library card at the information desk in the computer lab prior to using the computers. A patron's account must be clear of all fines and fees prior to using the computer lab. Patrons ages 15- 17 must have their parent's signature to use the internet. Patrons ages 14 and under must have a parent/guardian sitting with them while using the internet.
  2. All patrons may use the computer after checkout for sixty (60) minutes. Due to limited seating, after the users time of sixty minutes has expired, he may be asked to allow someone else to use a computer.
  3. The use of the computer lab is a privilege and inappropriate use will result in a cancellation of this privilege. ln addition, inappropriate behavior may lead to penalties including revoking the access to the computer lab, disciplinary action, and/or legal action.
  4. Disturbing other computer users is prohibited.
  5. Vandalizing computer lab equipment is strictly prohibited.
  6. Food and drinks (including candy and gum) are prohibited inside the computer lab.
  7. The transfer of inappropriate, treasonous, subversive, or illegal materials using the Waynesboro-Wayne County Library computer lab equipment is strictly prohibited. The transfer of such materials may result in legal action by city, county, state, or federal authorities.
  8. According to Mississippi state law, viewing pornography in a public place is prohibited. ln compliance with the Children's Internet Protection Act, internet filters are used to block or filter access to inappropriate information.
  9. Using the library's email account is prohibited. However, using a personal email account (Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL, etc.) is permitted.
  10. Downloading and/or installing any software from any source onto the computer hard drive, or running any software not provided by the Waynesboro-Wayne County Library is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, any form of digital data (images, music, applications, etc.). However, data can be downloaded onto a USB drive.

The transfer of copyrighted materials to a jump drive, CD, or other media using the Waynesboro-Wayne County Library computer Lab equipment is prohibited without authorization from the copyright owner.
  12. There will be a 25¢ per page charge for all documents printed from the black and white laser printer. There is a 50¢ charge for all documents printed from the color laser printer. A copy fee will be charged for wanted as well as unwanted copies sent to the printer.
  13. I release the Waynesboro-Wayne County Library and all other organizations related in any way to the library from any liability or damages that may result from the use of the computer lab. In addition, I will accept full responsibility and liability for my actions with regard to the use of the computer lab and release the Waynesboro-Wayne County Library and related organizations from any liability related to any consequences resulting from any use of the equipment in the computer lab.
