National Archives and Records Administration
The web site of the National Archives contains a great deal of information for genealogists. However, with the exception of the data that is available in the National Archive Information Locator, or NAIL (http://www.nara.gov/nara/searchnail.html -- for descriptions of data included see http://www.nara.gov/nara/nailhi.html), most of the actual records are NOT online. The site includes: the "Genealogy and Family History Page" which contains a great selection of guides to various records (http://www.nara.gov/genealogy); online bibliographies of microfilmed materials in NARA's collection; and information on using records held by the various branches of the National Archives.
Allen County Public Library
This web site is one of the largest genealogical libraries in the Midwest and includes a searchable online catalog of materials in its collection.

Library of Congress
The web site of the Library of Congress contains a great deal of information and online databases, including Library of Congress Card Catalog, American Memory Collection (excellent railroad maps), NUCMC (National Union Catalog of Manuscript Collections -- http://lcweb.loc.gov/coll/nucmc/nucmc.html). Keep in mind that the online catalog may not include ALL materials in their collection.
Library of Virginia
This is an excellent site for those with Virginia ancestors. Includes a significant digital collection of colonial record images (most notably land patents and bible records) and images of various record finding aids.
National Genealogical Society
The web site for the National Genealogical Society contains information on membership in this national society, links to society standards for genealogical research, and information on upcoming conferences.
SuperPages.com
A nationwide online yellow page directory, which is excellent for finding libraries and churches that are still in existence. It's especially helpful for finding those libraries whose names do not include the city or town in which they are located (Tri-County Library, for instance).
